Be Unique, Be You!

Yesterday, myself and a very close friend of mine were talking about who was going to win The Voice Nigeria, and her preferred winner was Cornelius or Brenda, i on the other hand was rooting for Arese, not that we voted (too bad i know) but we both had our individual preference.

For me, Arese stole my heart from the day she performed an Acapella of Jason Derulo's what you say, wearing a multi coloured cape jacket and looking all retro with her big afro wig packed nicely into a bun, that day Arese looked pretty and sang pretty too.

Arese was not like any other artiste on the Voice Nigeria, she is true to herself and it showed through her selection of songs and the delivery of her notes. For me Arese was too original to a fault, that even Waje who was her Mentor, confessed to not being sure if the Acapella she performed on that day was a good choice, but Arase being her didn't let that deter her, she continued giving us her uniqueness week after week.

Her winning song tonight was a worship song, and if you are conversant with music competitions like this one, you will know that a worship song is a winner any day anytime.

I'm raising a glass for Arase tonight, you deserve this because you are true to yourself and you entertained Nigerians week after week. Keep being you, the world is waiting for more where all that came from.

Like i said in my previous post, originality sells, start the thing that only you can start .

Have a great night people.

How has the economy imparted your life or business?

So year 2016 is slowly winding up and every Nigerian home and abroad knows about the new sheriff in town. Without mincing words, we all know that a new government took over just a year ago, and either positively or otherwise, both locals and foreigners doing business in Nigeria have had a taste of the change.

All over the world, we have seen a great turn out of events with major economies of the world. Irrespective of where you are geographically, the economy of your country plays a great role in your life and business.

For salary earners like some of us, the economy has not been fair, while so many people are loosing their jobs, those that still have theirs are struggling to keep up with their spendings, as their salaries can not even take them home anymore, with the increase in almost the price of everything been sold under the sky, one can only wonder the effect of this economy on various businesses and individuals.

Are you a business owner or an employee, feel free to share your story with us in the comment section below.

Brand Rules

Whether its Personal branding or Corporate branding, there are rules in the brand world. The Brand Room is going to be sharing some of this rules with you, i hope you can learn a thing or two from this.

A. Consistency is key in branding, what ever you want your brand to be identified as,you need to be consistent at it, this applies to Entrepreneurs who have great ideas and create a business from their ideas, its important that you are able to sell this business to a client over and over again. Being consistent at what you do,sets you apart from others. In the Corporate world, Coca-cola has been consistent with their brand, which makes other Cola drinks all over the world want to compete with them.

B. Be Original- In the brand world, there is no room for duplicates, you have to be original, and originality comes from within. Clients/ Consumers want the best of what you have to offer, they want a product/brand that can be trusted and will stand the test of time, So make sure you give them 100% you and nothing less.

C. Be Extraordinary- In a world where everyone is running the same race, what sets you apart is you ability to stand out.As a brand, dare to be different, be bold and put that extraordinary effect into what you do. Despite the fact that there are so many makeup brands all over the world, Tara Fela Durotoye of House of Tara pushed the envelop to become extraordinary in the Nigerian Makeup industry, started out as just a make up artiste and now, she has turned her passion into a brand which produces her own line of Makeup. She was not satisfied being just a makeup artiste, she wanted more and she went for it.

In branding, the ability to carve a niche for yourself sets you apart from others. The Guccis ,LVs and the Apples of this world, have been consistent, original and extraordinary and that is why they are where they are today.

Please share your experiences on how you have managed to create a brand that people can identify with.

My Kind of Shopper.

Morning Brand Room Family. I guess everyone is at work! So lets talk, what kind of shopper are you? Are you that shopper that likes to get every thing you need at a click of a button (online shopper) or the one that goes from store to store to see, feel and buy(Store shopper). Which ever describes you better, i'm sure there is a particular thing you look out for when shopping. When i say shopping its not limited to a particular type of product or item. You could be shopping for clothes, grocery, cars, school just anything at all. But its certain that we all look for a particular design, standard, quality, you name it when it comes to spending our money. So for me, i'm a Soulfood shopper, i like to buy what gives me complete satisfaction, before buying a new item i would read as much reviews as i can find online about that item, in some cases if i have to buy in store, i would ask the Customer Service or sales representative of that store about the product. I do not simply rely on product information, i love to hear from other users. Now tell me, what kind of shopper are you?

Why be an eye candy , when you can be Soul food

Yes this phrase completely got me thinking the moment i saw it on Nancy Isime's instagram page, between she is so pretty. What better way to brand and market yourself? If you are an eye candy, it simply means the packaging of the product is attractive, but when a product graduates from being just an eye candy to a soul food, this goes to show that the product is a complete product inside out. It looks good and its got good quality. You get full value for your money! As human beings, we naturally get attracted to great branding and presentation of a product or an item or a service, before getting to know the quality of the substance we are purchasing. In the market these days we have a lot of eye candies, and after spending so much to get those eye candies, we realize they dont meet the standard quality we expect the item to be. I know we all have our eye candy and soul food stories, feel free to share your story with me. lets know the product or service name, lets learn from each other and lets have a good laugh . Good Morning Brand Room.

Morning everyone, I guess we are all new to this, but I promise you that we have a lot to learn from each other on this platform. So wake up and get your day started with a cute smile on your face.

Ariel Washing Detergent

At the end of every month, my grocery shopping isnt complete without the 500g Ariel Washing Detergent. As a mum with young children, i usually buy 3 - 4 every month and that has been a tradition for a very long time in my house. I have tried other brands in the past, but i choose to stick with this particular brand because it foams, and washes the toughest stain on my kids clothings. My nanny tells me that it doesnt burn her fingers like the other brand and we can use a pack of 500g for a week or two depending on the volume of what we are washing. Its quite pocket friendly, and the mix of sun, air, and ariel on a cloth usually smells great. Based on my personal experience, i will recommend the Ariel 500g to families because the 200g/250g(not so sure of the size) is not cost effective for a ig family. I will like to read your experiences using Ariel Washing Detergent. Does Ariel get a thumbs up from you?

Hello Brand World

Hi everyone, I will like to welcome you to The Brand Room. The Brand Room is a place created basically for you and I to share our personal experiences about any product, service or business that we have used first hand and will like to recommend to others or otherwise. Its simply a place where we can review anything under the sun. The Brand Room was born out of curiosity. I love to read reviews about any product or service I would be spending my money on, but that has not been easy when it comes to Nigerian Brands, so I decided to create this baby to cater for other curious people like me who love value for every penny they spend. Please feel free to contribute by dropping a comment about any product of your choice. Please know that on this platform, reviews are not limited to Nigerian Products only, we can review any product/brand from any country in the world. I will love to read your comment. love Abi.
